Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj was tainted by an appalling assault on Mahamandaleshwar Kalyani Nand Giri, 'Chhoti Maa' of the Kinnar Akhara. The attack that occurred on February 13 evening has raised pertinent fears regarding the security of the religious event. Details of the Attack Reports state that the attack occurred when Kalyani Nand Giri was on her way back home to Sadiyapur after leaving the Kinnar Akhara's camp located in Sector 16. While driving her Fortuner car, she was stopped by a group of people who claimed to offer blessings. The moment the car stopped, these people attacked her with sharp weapons, leaving her critically injured. Three of her followers, in an effort to defend her, also suffered injuries. The attackers disappeared after the attack and left the victims in critical condition.
