On 26 November 2008, ten terrorists launched a coordinated series of attacks at high-profile sites in Mumbai, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Oberoi Trident Hotel, Nariman House, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway station. The siege lasted for three days, and 166 people died, with more than 300 injured. The attacks were attributed to LeT, a militant group based in Pakistan.

Rana's Involvement and Legal History

In 2009, Rana was detained for planning an attack against the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten. In 2011, a U.S. federal court found him guilty of giving material support to LeT and participation in the Denmark plot. But he was cleared of direct involvement in the Mumbai attacks. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

On February 14, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that Rana's
